New Delhi, March 5 BJP leader Bhupender Yadav, who is in-charge of party affairs in Bihar, on Thursday said that there was perfect coordination between the BJP and its ally Janata Dal-United in view of the coming Assembly elections in the eastern state.

Clarifying his party's stand on the caste census, Yadav said that the BJP was never opposed to such an exercise.

Asked by which of the two parties was the big brother in the alliance, the BJP leader maintained that both were brothers.

He said that the alliance was working well and Bihar had developed a lot in the last 15 years, adding that both parties will work in tandem in future too.

He made light of the resolution passed in the Bihar Assembly against the National Register of Citizens, maintaining that the NRC plan has been rejected at the national level too.

The BJP leader said that the JD-U had also supported the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Parliament and the Nitish Kumar government had talked of implementing the NPR in Bihar.

The National Population Register was a constitutional necessity and had been implemented when the Congress was in power at the Centre, he said.

There is need for data on the country's development and resources to convey the same to the citizens and the government has to work on it.

As for some states planning not to implement the NPR, he said whatever the Constitution of India says is important. "We function as per the rule of law. Laws passed by Parliament are applicable to all of us," Yadav added.
