Bhuj, February 5: Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited Bhuj on February 4 and 5, where he reviewed operational preparedness and infrastructure development in forward areas of the Creek Sector.

During the visit, the Defence Secretary interacted with senior Army commanders, including the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, and other officers of Konark Corps. He was briefed on ongoing capability development measures and operational readiness in the region.

Officials informed him about initiatives being undertaken under the Indian Army’s Decade of Transformation roadmap, aimed at modernisation and improving preparedness for multi-domain operations.

The Defence Secretary also visited the Joint Control Centre, which integrates inputs from multiple surveillance systems to provide a consolidated operational picture for commanders on the ground.

As part of the programme, he inaugurated a large national flag installation in the border area and observed an operational demonstration of select new-generation weapon systems.

He later witnessed Exercise Tatraksha, a multi-agency drill involving the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, the Border Security Force, and other security agencies. The exercise focused on coordination in coastal and amphibious operations, including surveillance, logistics and response mechanisms.

The visit comes amid ongoing efforts by the government to enhance coordination among the armed forces, strengthen border infrastructure and improve operational preparedness.
