Pimpri-Chinchwad News: Woman Pushed into Valley Near Mangdewadi; Six Arrested by Police
Pune: In unexpected turn of events a 40-year-old woman was found in a mine at Raskar Park, Mangdewadi in Katraj area on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Following this a case of accidental death was registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. However, the police had started an investigation on suspicion of murder. In this case, a team of Crime Branch Unit 2 conducted a skillful investigation and arrested six people.
Keshav Kamlesh Chaudhary (20), Sonya Laxman Pawar (19), and Abdul Mohammed Sheikh (23), all residents of Bharatnagar, Katraj, along with Mahadev Arjun Vorde (21), Sai Amit Pujari (22), and Sohail Hanif Khan (20), all residents of Katraj, have been arrested and remanded in police custody. Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Shende (40) filed a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station regarding the incident, which occurred around 10 pm on Sunday the 8th. This follows the discovery of a woman's body in a crusher mine at Raskar Park, Mangdewadi, Katraj, around 3:30 pm on Tuesday the 10th. The autopsy report indicated that she had been murdered.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch Unit 2 launched a parallel investigation into the registered case. The autopsy report indicated the woman had died approximately 24 hours prior. After identifying the victim and interviewing her family, police determined the death was accidental, not a suicide. Reviewing CCTV footage within a three-kilometer radius of the incident site and the woman's residence, investigators collected 97 clips and identified 35 suspicious vehicles.
Questioning the drivers led them to Keshav Chaudhary, a rickshaw driver from Bharatnagar Katraj, who had altered his rickshaw's hood. This raised further suspicion. Upon seeing the police uniform, Chaudhary confessed. He stated that the woman had contacted his rickshaw, already occupied by his intoxicated friends, Abdul and Sonu, requesting to be taken to the Srushti Hotel in Katraj.
