Patas: A woman escape at Patas railway station on Saturday morning, May 9, after she saved herself from a moving goods train by lying flat between the railway tracks. Her quick thinking helped her avoid serious injury in the terrifying incident. According to reports, the woman was attempting to cross the railway tracks to reach the platform when a goods train, which had been standing at the station, suddenly started moving. Realising she had no time to escape, she immediately lay down in the gap between the tracks as the train passed over her.
The woman remained motionless in fear until the entire train crossed the section. She escaped unharmed and breathed a sigh of relief once the train had completely passed. The incident has once again highlighted the lack of proper passenger infrastructure at Patas railway station. Locals allege that the railway administration has failed to provide a safe pedestrian crossing or a Foot Overbridge (FOB), forcing commuters to cross tracks and put their lives at risk daily.
Rahul Chabukswar, former Sarpanch of Kangav, has reportedly raised the issue several times with railway authorities, demanding the construction of a Foot Overbridge and a dedicated pedestrian pathway at the station. Members of the Gramastha Samajik Seva Sanstha have also staged multiple protests in the past to press for improved safety measures. However, residents claim that despite repeated appeals, the railway administration has not taken concrete action, leaving passengers vulnerable to dangerous situations.
Following the latest incident, fresh demands have been made for immediate construction of a Foot Overbridge and safer access facilities for passengers at Patas railway station.
