Pune Weather Update: Orange Alert Issued by IMD After City Witnesses Unseasonal Rain, Hailstorms and Thunderstorms
Pune is experiencing heavy rainfall, following with waterlogging in many areas. The IMD has issued an orange alert for city as it is witnessing unseasonal heavy rains, lightning and hail storms across the several parts of the city since Thursday afternoon. The sudden shift in an intense showers to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad around 2:30pm catching commuters and pedestrians off guard during peak hours.
An intense downpour with hailstones caused chaos and traffic disruptions in Pune, with residents scrambling for shelter. Sinhagad Road, Dhankawadi, Katraj, Hadapsar, Lohegaon, Baner, Bibwewadi, and Kharadi were among the areas affected by the storm, which also led to waterlogging in several localities. The erratic weather pattern, marked by hot afternoons and sudden evening rains, has created a monsoon-like atmosphere in early April.
As per the IMD, Pune likely to see slight rise in max and minimum temperatures over the next two days.
