Renowned psychiatrist Dr Anand Nadkarni passed away in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, between 4:30 am and 5 am. He was 68 years old. He is survived by his wife and son.
According to sources, complications developed following a surgery conducted last week. Although he had initially recovered after the operation, his condition suddenly deteriorated and he passed away.
People will be able to pay their last respects at Saptasopan in Thane from 10:30 am onwards. Dr Anand Madhusudan Nadkarni, founder of the Institute for Psychological Health (IPH), completed his medical degree in Mumbai and later earned an MD in Psychiatry from the University of Mumbai.
He had been actively working in the field of psychiatry for the past three decades. Dr Nadkarni played a significant role in spreading awareness about mental health across different sections of society and worked extensively in multiple areas related to psychological well-being.
