‘Kisike Baap Ka Hindustan Nahi’: Mumbra Corporator Sahar Yunus Shaikh Says Her Statements Are Being Played Out of Context

Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hain sabhi ka khoon shamil yaha ki mitti main, said newly elected All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator Sahar Yunus Shaikh from Mumbra. She said her incomplete statements (will make Mumbra green) were deliberately played and circulated to portray her as anti-Hindu.

Sahar Shaik said no one has the right to tell us where to go as we are Muslims by birth. Speaking to the news agency ANI, she said,"We are Indian muslims and no one can tell us where we have to go. This is our country...Hindus and muslims live in harmony in Mumbra."

"The public is aware and many Hindus have also come in support of me, as in many places the clips of my statements are being incompletely played," she added, referring to her speech given after winning the Thane Municipal Elections 2026 from Mumbra. Sahar said that people of Mumbra are smart, they know who I am and what I said, as people wanted to portray me in some other way.

Sahar Shaikh, after her victory from ward 30 in the January 15 Thane civic polls, had said every candidate in Mumbra will be from AIMIM in the next five years. "Mumbra must be completely painted green," she had said in a jibe at Awhad, but it ended up triggering a war of words with the BJP and Shiv Sena.

She received a notice under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) by Mumbra police for the "provocative" remarks and asked to "exercise extreme caution in public addresses and refrain from statements that could inflame sentiments".
