The Thane City Police has officially begun its recruitment campaign, drawing a massive turnout from hopeful applicants eager to join the force. The first phase of the selection process was conducted on Wednesday at the Saket Police Grounds, where nearly 1,500 candidates were invited to undergo preliminary screening and verification procedures. Officials reported smooth coordination on the opening day, with arrangements made to manage the large gathering efficiently. Authorities have indicated that the scale of the process will expand from Friday onward, with around 2,000 aspirants expected to participate each day. The entire recruitment exercise is scheduled to run until February 28.
This hiring initiative seeks to fill 654 vacant posts across various ranks within the department. Interest in the positions has been exceptionally high, as evidenced by the 21,002 applications submitted through the official online system. The sheer number of applicants highlights the strong demand for government jobs and the appeal of a policing career. With roughly 32 candidates competing for each available vacancy, the selection process is expected to be highly competitive. Officials believe that such intense rivalry underscores both the prestige associated with the uniform and the limited employment opportunities in the public sector.

Senior officers have assured that the recruitment will be carried out in a fair and transparent manner, with strict vigilance against any irregularities. Shrikant Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police for Thane City, has clearly warned candidates against engaging in corrupt practices or relying on unfair means. He stated that anyone attempting to influence the process through bribes or outside pressure would face immediate disqualification. Additionally, candidates discovered using stimulants or banned substances during physical assessments will not only be barred from selection but may also face legal consequences under applicable laws.
The police administration has further appealed to applicants to trust their preparation and abilities rather than fall victim to misleading assurances from agents or intermediaries. Authorities cautioned that fraudulent individuals often exploit job seekers by promising guaranteed selection in exchange for money. Officials reiterated that recruitment decisions will be based strictly on merit, performance in physical tests, and adherence to eligibility criteria. By reinforcing these guidelines, the department aims to maintain integrity throughout the process and ensure that deserving candidates are selected solely on the basis of competence and discipline.
