Aurangabad, Sept 18“My career in the social arena began at Lions Club, and it gave me stage daring. What I am today is because of Lions movement,’’ opined the union minister of state for finance Dr Bhagwat Karad while responding to his felicitation organised by the Lions Club of Chikalthana here on Saturday.Lokmat Group Editor-in-Chief Ln Rajendra Darda presided over the function. The dignitaries present on the dais included MLA Atul Save, former MLC Subhash Zambad, Multiple Council Chairman Vivek Abhyankar, Lions family co-ordinator Mahavir Patni, Lions Club (Chikalthana) president Manohar Agrawal, regional chairpersons Rajesh Bharuka, Ashish Agrawal and vice-district governor Sunil Desarda.Lions family head Ln Rajendra Darda and other dignitaries honoured the union MoS by presenting him a citation.Dr Karad said the felicitation has increased his responsibilities, and he will try to fulfill people’s expectations. “I am aware of the difficulties of the poor as myself have come from a poor family. I will be indebted to the Lions family as it has provided me the opportunity of social work,” he said.In his presidential address, Darda said every person in the city is feeling with the appointment of Dr Karad, the first leader from the city to be included in the union cabinet. Darda recalled contribution of surgeon Dr Karad in the plastic surgery camps by Dr Sharad Kumar Dicksheet and other Lions projects.Subhash Zambad and MLA Atul Save also spoke.Past district governors Tansukh Zambad, Arvind Machhar, past multiple council chairman Sandeep Malu and others were present. Rajesh Raut conducted the proceedings. Prakash Bafna, Gajanan Zalwar, Vishal Ladniya, Kishor Lalwani, Jaideep Ghuge, Sanjay Kasliwal, Radha Tornekar, Jairaj Patil, Rajesh Shukla, and others took efforts for the success of the function.
