The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday, April 17, issued a yellow alert for several districts of Maharashtra, expecting rain and thunderstorms. Latur, Nashik, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Satara may experience light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds early today.The IMD bulletin at 7 am today indicates that unprecedented weather conditions across several districts of Maharashtra are likely to prevail for three hours. Along with rain, gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 km/h in the above regions.Vidarbha is facing heatwave-like conditions as the temperature rose to 43 degrees Celsius. Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra also experienced hot and humid conditions, while Mumbai and the Konkan region remained relatively sober with the maximum temperature reaching 33 degrees Celsius, but high humidity with levels at 65% to 80%. Observations from the Colaba station showed a maximum of 33.6 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz remained slightly lower at 33.1 degrees Celsius. Other coastal stations, including Alibag, Ratnagiri, and Dahanu, maintained a range between 31.5 degrees Celsius and 33.1 degrees Celsius.Despite the moderate readings, the weather remained uncomfortable for residents as humidity levels fluctuated between 65% and 80%, significantly increasing the "real-feel" temperature.Further inland, Pune recorded a maximum of 39.7 degrees Celsius. While the city experienced notably high temperatures, the heat was tempered by low humidity and clear skies, remaining lower than the extreme highs recorded in Maharashtra's interior districts.Meanwhile, IMD in a post X on Thursday, "Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
