Aurangabad, March 5:

Cidco police have registered a case against persons from Ahmednagar for duping three persons of the city of Rs 16 lakh on the lure of getting ticket collectors job in the railway. The Kingpin of this scam Aniket Kailas Kokate (Daswandi, Rahuri, Ahmednagar, Mahesh Karbhari Sase (Sasewadi, Ahmednagar) and three others have been booked.

Police said, Bharat Navnath Khedkar works as a peon in an Urdu medium school and lives at Navjeevan Colony, N-11, Hudco. In July, 2018, he was coming to Pune from Aurangabad and accused Aniket was sitting next to him. During the journey, he told Khedkar that he is working at Railway Bhavan at New Delhi and can get a job for anyone from the special quota in the railways. After 15 days, he called Khedkar and told him that the posts of TC are being filled. Khedkar told his relatives Vishal Tukaram Tathe (Ghatnandra, Sillod) and Sunil Vitthal Nagare about the recruitment. Kokate then came to Aurangabad and demanded Rs 10 lakh each for getting jobs for two of them. After the negotiation, the deal was fixed at Rs 8 lakh each. Tathe and Nagare paid Rs 4 lakh each and Khedkar to help these two candidates paid Rs 8 lakh, all amounting Rs 16 lakh to Kokate.

Meanwhile, the accused called the two candidates to Delhi, conducted their medical tests, and gave forged appointment letters. Later, he took back the letters stating various reasons and fled away.

When they realized that they had been taken for a ride, they went to Kokate’s village and he gave them two post-dated cheques, which were not cleared in the banks.
