406 secondary schools reopened in rural areas; 179 still shut down

Aurangabad, Nov 23:

As many as 406 secondary schools with 9th to 12 standards were reopened in the district from Monday.

It may be noted that the State Government gave powers to the local administration to take a decision about reopening of the schools. The district administration issued permission for reopening the secondary schools in rural areas from today.

There are 585 secondary schools run by Zilla Parishad and private education societies. Of them, 406 schools reopened on the first day. Around 17,275 students with parents consent letter attended the classes today. The 179 schools remained shut down because of different reasons.

Many teachers did not get the test report by Monday. The Education Department asked them not to join the duty until they get the report. Most of the teachers would get their report on Tuesday.

This will help in reopening remaining schools.

Nearly 300 teachers have not done the testing yet. Education Officer (secondary) Dr B B Chavan appealed to the teachers to undergo for COVID test.

Meanwhile, gram panchayats opposed to restarting the schools at Waluj, Bajajnagar, Ranjangaon areas.

Dr Chavan said that no separate orders were received from the district collect about schools of these places.
