The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) celebrated its 38th anniversary day in a very low profile manner, adhering to all SOPs today.
At the outset, the civic officials paid floral tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj''s portrait (in the office at Town Hall), Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar''s statue (Bhadkal Gate), Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj''s statue (Mill Corner) and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj''s statue (TV Centre) in the morning. The AMC administrator A K Pandey, the additional commissioners B B Nemane, R P Nikam and other key officers were present on occasion. The civic officials also offered tributes to other statues, located in different zones of the city.
The AMC had organised the main programme at the Garware stadium. The AMC administrator felicitated and presented appreciation certificates to 15 students, who secured above 85 per cent in the SSC examination, this year. Later on, the administrator also feted 20 doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and health personnel along with 15 sanitary personnel for contributing outstanding service during the Covid-19 situation in the city. Each of them was presented with an appreciation certificate.
A cricket match was also organised to mark the anniversary celebration on the ground. The match was played between officials of AMC, Police and ZP departments. AMC administrator A K Pandey, commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta, special IGP, K M M Prasanna, collector Sunil Chavan, superintendent of police (SP) Mokshada Patil, former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, former house leader Vikas Jain, additional commissioners B B Nemane, R P Nikam, education officer Ramnath Thore and many other officials, headmasters of AMC schools, students and sanitary personnel were present.
The AMC also organised a health check-up camp for officials and personnel at the headquarter in the morning. The medical officers checked up the health of 107 personnel and collected swab samples of 10 persons at the camp. They also conducted a diabetic test of 53, haemoglobin test of 16 and other pathology tests of 28 personnel. AMC''s chief auditor D K Hiwale inaugurated the camp. He also voluntarily underwent Covid-19 test on the occasion. The camp was also visited by former office-bearers and corporators.
