Aurangabad, Nov 30:

If all goes well, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has plans to launch development works of valuing around Rs 2,000 crore, after the end of code of conduct for Marathwada Graduates'' Constituency election, soon.

The state government has to grant final approval to the implementation of a new water supply scheme of Rs 1680 crore. Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) had shortlisted the tender and is awaiting for the official consent to start the project by the shortlisted contractor. Hence, the ''bhoomipujan'' of water project will be held after the election schedule is over.

The bhoomipujan of the development of Safari Park on 100 acres of land at Mitmita is also expected to be done after legislative council election. The Smart City office had invited tender to construct compound wall on the land acquired for the purpose. The project is funded by the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL).

The launch of road works of valuing Rs 152 crore from the aid of the state government is also due. Various government agencies like MSRDC, MIDC and AMC are given the task of constructing roads of valuing Rs 50 crore each. MIDC had started the works, three months ago, but MIDC and the AMC are waiting for the fund. They are hoping to get the money after code of conduct for the above election. All the agencies would be conducting the bhoomipujan of all roads in a combined form, it is learnt.

The proposed construction of Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial by spending Rs 25 crore, on MGM campus, is also expected to start soon. The AMC had completed the tender procedure. The guardian minister Subhash Desai is monitoring the project and will be started in December.
