Aurangabad, Dec 9:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is deciding upon re-opening of Siddharth Garden and Zoo for the tourists, soon. It is hoped that the AMC administrator A K Pandey will be taking the final decision on it in a couple of days.

The pilgrimage centres in the city had been re-opened for the devotees. The monuments are also now being re-opened for the tourists from Thursday. It is now believed that the AMC would also open the garden and the zoo for the tourists and visitors as early as possible, said the sources.

The AMC had sustained a loss of around Rs 30 lakh in the form of admission tickets (to garden and the zoo) due to closure of both the places for the last nine months. Lakhs of people, every year, visit the region''s biggest garden and the zoo.

The additional commissioner B B Nemane confirmed that the discussion on fixing terms and conditions for tourists and others at the garden and the zoo is underway. The AMC administrator will take a decision upon it, soon, he said.
