The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today held a tree plantation programme on the controversial open space in Ravindranagar Housing Society at Tilaknagar. The AMC had taken possession of the said plot during the last month. The value of land is around Rs 35 crore, it is said.
It is learnt that some developer tried to make construction on the society''s open space. The colony''s senior citizens fought a legal battle for 15 long years and succeeded in vacating the open space.
The additional commissioners B B Nemane, R P Nikam, assistant director (Town Planning) Jayant Kharwadkar, garden superintendent Vijay Patil, designated officer Savita Sonawane, ward officer S R Zarare, ward engineer Pardeshi, PRO Tauseef Ahmed, residents of Ravindranagar-Tilaknagar including Digambar Gadekar were present on occasion.
The residents thanked AMC officers for extending their help in saving the open space and presented flowers to civic officials. Nemane also thanked Tilaknagar''s resident Madhavrao Kulkarni for taking up the matter and presented a floral bouquet to him.
Nemane said that the AMC after tree plantation is thinking of developing jogging track on the open space. He also appealed to the residents to help AMC in protecting the trees.
