Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) Dr Vijay Phulari paid a surprise visit to 15 departments recently and found teachers and heads absent on duty. The university administration issued notices to 15 teachers and department heads.

It may be noted that there are 55 academic departments in the city campus of Bamu.

The administration received complaints from students the teachers in some departments are absent or come late.

The number of admissions is going down gradually. Considering this, VC started paying surprise visits to many departments during the last year. Recently, he visited 15 departments and found heads and teachers absent. According to sources, VC was shocked on not finding heads in the departments. The sources said that since many of them are senior professors, notices were issued to them to attend duty on time.

The administration has already served notice to more than 100 employees and officers for absent and late coming.

The sources said that the administration is also planning to install face recognition for staff attendance. “VC may attend lectures with the students in classrooms when teachers deliver the lectures,” the said.
