Aurangabad, Feb 16: Bengali Association, Aurangabad celebrated Shri Shri Saraswati Puja on the auspicious day of Basant Panchami with traditional fervor and enthusiasm at Kali-Bari premises, Garkheda. This year the eco-friendly idol was made by an association member Dr Partho Roy.

As per mythology, Goddess Saraswati, also known as Sharada, is the eternal goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and lore. She is a part of the divine trinity of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. Basant Panchami is an auspicious day dedicated to Goddess Saraswati across Bengal as well across India. Saraswati wears neither jewels or paints herself with bright colours. The white sari she adorns reflects her essential purity, her rejection of all that is base and materialistic.

A large number of community members and local residents were present for the Puja and rituals held from 9 am till 3.30 pm. Haate Khori (usually performed during Saraswati Puja) is the ceremony which is performed to introduce young children to education. It is an annual attraction. Quite a number of young students attended it. Students worship Maa Saraswati with a prayer for good results in their upcoming exams. Wearing yellow sarees is a part of tradition in this festival. Prasad and bhog were distributed. All the arrangements were done in accordance to the Covid rules and regulations.
