Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Air travel between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Delhi will now become at least Rs 399 costlier. Air India has decided to impose a fuel surcharge of Rs 399 on domestic flight tickets due to rising jet fuel prices. The surcharge will come into effect for new bookings made from March 12.
Currently, Air India operates flights from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Delhi in the morning and afternoon. The airline has announced a phased increase in fuel surcharges on both domestic and international flights, with the first phase being implemented for domestic routes.
Jet fuel accounts for nearly 40 per cent of an airline’s total operating costs. With aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices witnessing a sharp rise since early March, airlines are facing increasing financial pressure. Air India said the surcharge has been introduced to offset the rising fuel costs.
Tickets booked before March 12 will not be affected by the surcharge. However, if passengers change their travel date or route, the ticket fare may be recalculated as per the revised rates.
Not a major increase
Air India has decided to impose a Rs 399 fuel surcharge on domestic flight tickets. However, this is not a significant increase.
