Aurangabad, Dec 16:

The conservation and beautification of heritage Clock Tower, located in Shahgunj, is likely to begin in 10 days as the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) has issued a letter in this regard to the contractor.

The tower was built during 1901 and 1906 AD during the Nizam regime. The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey said, " The Clock Tower is a heritage structure and pride of the old city. It will revive the past glory. The conservation of Clock Tower will begin after completion of the ongoing conservation and beautification works of nine heritage gates in the city. The AMC will propose many such important projects under the Smart City project."

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 29.11 lakh and will complete in four months. The works will get started in 10 days after the contractor submits the bank guarantee, said the ASCDCL''s deputy chief executive officer Pushkal Shivam.

Adds the assistant project manager Sneha Bakshi," All the wild grass or plants which had developed on the heritage structure will be removed. We will restore the beautiful artistic work existing on the tower. The conservation works will be done with utmost care and responsibility."
