The municipal commissioner A K Pandey today ordered the dismissal of eight contract employees for their apathy in the recovery of property and water tax dues. The civic chief also ordered departmental inquiry (DE) against five regular personnel, working on AMC's establishment, in this regard.

It so happened that the municipal commissioner conducted a meeting to review the collection of property tax and water tax on Monday. He ordered the subordinates to meet the target collection of taxes, for the year 2020-21, at any cost. He clarified that the dereliction of duty affecting the collections would not be tolerated. If needed, the departmental inquiry will be initiated against the personnel at the guilty, he stressed.

Pandey also hinted at restarting of Good Morning squad. He will be visiting each zone along with JCB, anti-encroachment squad, water supply officials, ward officers and tax recovery officials. If any property-holder is found that he has not paid his property tax, then the civic team will disconnect his water connection on the spot. The civic chief also ordered the ward officers to file offences against the property-holders, if their cheques paid to them against the tax, are dishonoured by their banks.

The AMC administrator gave necessary instructions to the zone officers. They are as follows:

1. Ordered to serve notices to private property-holder having an outstanding of property tax or water tax more than Rs 10 lakh, while seven days should be served to the government offices. If they fail to do so, then disconnect their water supply.

2. The Special Task Force is ordered to visit the properties having legal disputes and serve seven days notice to pay tax, after submitting the inspection report.

3. Conduct a hearing in the office of the municipal commissioner, on every Wednesday, to settle disputes on water tax and property tax dues of above Rs 5 lakh.

4. Organise water tax collection camps if the personnel are facing inconvenience in recovering water tax.

5. The Special Task Force is ordered to coordinate with the ward officer to complete its target collection of taxes in each zone.
