Aurangabad, Feb 7:

The classes for the students of 5th standard will restart in the city from February 8. The State Government gave permission to reopen the classes for 5th to eight standards from January 27 after RTPCR test of teachers.

In the city, schools from 6th to eighth standards were reopened. A total of 691 schools of standard fifth will restart from Monday.

Education officer of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Ramanth Thore instructed the schools for reopening. The city has 657 schools with fifth to 10th standards while first to the fifth standard are 34 in the city.

Most of the teachers have joined 691 schools and already started teaching for standards sixth to tenth. Those who have done their RTPCR test were allowed to join the duty while remaining teachers to do the test before joining the fifth standard.

Thore said that students were asked to bring consent letter from parents and wear a mask while headmasters were instructed to carry out an examination of students through thermal gun and oxymeter.

Only one student is allowed to sit on one bench, and students are called on alternate days to maintain social distancing and reduce the threat of COVID.

In rural areas there are 2168 schools from fifth to eight standards and 2157 were reopened.

Two weeks were passed since schools were reopened, the attendance of students is below 50 per cent.

Education officer (primary) of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Surajprasad Jaiswal said they were taking different initiatives to increase students' attendance with parents consent. “With this, the city will have classes for students from fifth to 12th standards,” he added.
