Aurangabad, March 23:

Corona has been on the rise again for the last one and a half months in the Aurangabad district. More than 1000 new corona patients are being found every day. Most of these new patients are in the age group of 18 to 50 years. In a way, the number of youths is high. But most youths have no symptoms or mild symptoms. However, corona along with other serious illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, have led to alarming deaths among seniors, experts said.

Aurangabad has the highest number of corona patients in the age group of 1 to 50 years. Out of the total patients, 58 per cent are in this age group. However, despite having the highest number of patients, the mortality rate is the lowest in this age group. The mortality rate is high among senior citizens. Most of the deceased patients have been diagnosed with other diseases including diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure with corona. Due to such illnesses, senior citizens do not respond to treatment. This increases the risk of death, doctors said. The lowest number of deaths is in patients below 40 years of age. The highest number of patients above 51 years of age. Therefore, doctors are appealing to take care of the elderly. Head of the department of physiology in the GMCH, Dr Anil Joshi said that the death rate of people above 50 years is 70 per cent. Patients benefit if they come early for treatment. Patients must not delay treatment. The vaccine must be taken on time.
