Aurangabad, Dec 14:

The Coronavirus vaccination drive will be implemented in three phases as per the union and the State Government directives. As a result, the district collector Sunil Chavan today held a meeting to review the preparations and ordered all the officials concerned to remain alert and implement the drive successfully. Meanwhile, he ordered the district health officer (DHO) and the civil surgeon (CS) to issue show-cause notices to tehsil-level officials and others, who were absent in the meeting.

The collector reviewed the preparations made by health administration at the district level and various tehsil levels. The collector also guided saying that the updates of the drive will be circulated by health machinery. The vaccination drive has to be implemented successfully with the participation of self-help groups (SHGs), public representatives, private doctors, education department, police department etc. in the district. It will be mandatory upon all to use facemasks, maintain physical distance and use sanitisers after vaccination.

The additional collector Anant Gavhane, the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar, civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni, district health officer Dr S Shelke, Dr Wagh and WHO''s Dr Syed Mujeeb, deputy chief executive officer, tehsildars, health officers, municipal councils health officers, block development officers and other officials of district and tehsil levels, were present in the meeting.

The vaccination drive will be implemented in three phases. In the first phase, the administration will give the vaccine to health personnel (doctors, nurses and others from government and private sectors). The frontline workers including police, security guards, home guards, fire brigade personnel and others will be vaccinated in the second phase. Under the third phase, the vaccine will be administered to citizens above the age of 50 years or those suffering from co-morbidities. The health administration has started the drive to register the names of all. The date, time and venue of the vaccination drive will be informed through a text message on the mobile phones, it is learnt.
