Domestic LPG cylinder costlier by Rs 50 over a year, commercial cheaper by Rs 63
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Although the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 50 on the very first day of February, a review of the past one year shows that it has become cheaper by a total of Rs 63 overall. While the immediate hike is noticeable, commercial gas prices have remained relatively under control in the long-term comparison.
Meanwhile, the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased by a total of Rs 50 over the past year. However, as there has been no change in domestic gas prices for the last ten months, housewives and common consumers have received some relief.

Why the frequent fluctuations?
Oil marketing companies review LPG prices on the first day of every month. Pricing is determined based on international crude oil prices, transportation costs, fluctuations in currency exchange rates and distribution expenses.
Inflation factored into commercial pricing
The recent hike in commercial LPG prices has affected small vendors more severely. Large commercial establishments usually fix food prices keeping inflation in mind, which reduces the impact on them, restaurant owners said.
