Aurangabad, Oct 29:

Dr Shyam Shirsath took charge as the new Pro-vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) in a programme held at Mahatma Phule Hall on Thursday.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole presided over the programme. Outgoing pro-VC Dr Pravin Wakte, registrar Dr Jaishri Suryavanshi seated on the dais.

Governor and chancellor of the universities Bhagatsingh Koshyari appointed Dr Shirsat as new Pro-VC of Bamu on Wednesday.

Speaking after taking charge, Dr Shyam Shirsath said that he never thought, even in a dream, that he would become a professor, principal and Pro-VC as he was a wrestler in school life. “Whatever responsibility I was given, I performed it very well and honestly. To be on the second topmost post of the university is its receipt,” he asserted.

VC Dr Pramod Yeole said that annual examinations were conducted successfully because of teamwork efforts. He hoped that the university would progress in the coming days with the efforts of all stakeholders.

Management Council members Kishor Shitole, Dr Rajesh Karpe, Principal Dr Jaisinghrao Deshmukh, Dr Kailas Pathrikar also spoke.

Dr Fulchand Salampur, Dr Rahul Mhaske, Dr Bhalchandra Waykar, Dr Walmik Sarwade were present. Sanjay Shinde conducted the proceedings while Bhagwan Phad proposed a vote of thanks.

Outgoing Pro-VC Dr Pravin Wakte said that his one and a quarter years tenure of Pro-VC will be memorable as learnt many things and had different experiences.
