City Chowk police arrested a drug peddler near Town Hall bridge, Bhadkal Gate road on Friday midnight and seized 480 grams of Marijuana.

The arrested has been identified as Mohammad Wasim Mohammad Salim (39, Kaziwada). Police received information that a man is transporting Marijuana from the Kaziwada area. Accordingly, PI, Sambhaji Pawar issued order to take action in this regard. API, M M Syed, PSI Praveen Patharkar and others laid a trap near Town Hall bridge at Bhadkal Gate on Friday midnight. Police saw a man going with a bag. As the police approached him, he started running from the scene. However, the police caught him after a chase. In the search, it was found that there was Marijuana in the bag weighing 480 grams. A case has been registered on the complaint lodged by PSI Patharkar. Accused Mohammad Wasim has been arrested and PSI Kashinath Mahadule is investigating the case. Wasim has been remanded in the police custody for two days when produced before the court on Saturday. Wasim is a hardcore criminal on the police record and cases have been registered against him at several police stations in the city, PI Pawar informed.
