Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The flying squad of the Education Department of Zilla Parishad (ZP) caught a student while taking an examination on behalf of another candidate, at an HSC centre in the district on Saturday.

It may noted that the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) started conducting the HSC examination on February 11.

Various departments including Education, State Board and Revenu formed separate flying and sitting squads to put a check during malpractice of the examination. A flying squad of the Secondary Education Department of Zilla Parishad visited the examination centre (no. 0058) at Hari Om Junior College (Turkabad Kharadi) today.

The students were taking the paper ‘Organisation of Commerce and Management’ subject of the Commerce stream papers. Out of a total of 29 candidates, 27 were taking the paper at the examination centre today. Two candidates were absent.

During an inspection at the examination centre, an officer of the flying squad asked a candidate his father's name, but the candidate could not properly reply.

It was also found that the tampering with the hall ticket about the date of birth. The signature and stamp of the centre director were not found on the ticket of the concerned candidate. This further strengthened the suspicion of the officials of the flying squad.

When the student's hall ticket and online records related to the examination were checked, he was found dummy one. The flying squad's Chief and Educational Officer (Secondary) Ashwini Lathkar immediately took action against the dummy examinee.

A complaint was lodged against him with Waluj Police Station through the examination centre director. The Secondary Education Officer immediately replaced the entire staff of the examination centre and took strict action against them for this matter.

The officers said that they are taking very strict steps through their flying squad to ensure that the entire HSC examination is conducted in a copying-free environment. The Secondary Education Department is making efforts at all levels to ensure that the 12th and 10th standards Board examinations are free from malpractice.

The officers reiterated that if any cheating or any other improper conduct is found during the 12th Board and 10th Board examinations in the entire district, strict action would be taken against them immediately and the centre recognition of the concerned college will be cancelled permanently.
