Aurangabad, Nov 11:

Citizens have flocked to the market for Diwali shopping and many citizens were spotted without a mask. This has left the municipal health department worried. The officials said that the results of the Diwali crowd are expected to be seen in a fortnight. The administration has also decided to keep all covid care centers open considering the possibility of a sudden rise in the number of patients in the coming days.

The repeated pleas by the administration to not to rush to the market for Diwali shopping remained unheard. Thousands of citizens flocked to Gulmandi, Aurangpura, Paithan Gate, Shahganj, TV Center and Connaught Marketfor shopping. Numerous citizens were spotted not wearing masks. The municipal administration has appointed 15 independent squads to take punitive action of Rs 500 each for not wearing masks. The team has also taken action against the trader as soon as it was noticed that there was a crowd in the shop. However, the situation has not improved. Even today, there was a huge crowd in the market. Traffic jams were frequently reported on major roads in the city on Wednesday.

Single patient can pose a threat

Even a single corona patient in the crowd could pose a threat to at least four hundred people. The situation has been out of hand for the last eight to ten days. According to municipal health officials, the results are expected in at least a fortnight. The administration had started considering closing some covid care centers in late November. However, due to the prevailing situation, the administration has decided not to close any of the centers.

700 active patients

The city currently has 700 active patients. Delhi has reported a sudden increase in the number of patients at the start of the winter. It is now estimated that the number of patients may increase in Aurangabad city due to cold. The health administration is not ready to take any risk considering the possible situation. The health officials still examine five to six hundred suspected patients every day.
