In a strong display of communal harmony, citizens vowed to celebrate Ramzan Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ram Navami together, ensuring the city remains free of unrest. The commitment was reaffirmed during a Peace Committee meeting at the Police Commissionerate, where law enforcement officials and community leaders pledged to uphold order and unity.

The meeting, convened on Monday at 4 pm in the Commissionerate's conference hall, reviewed preparations for the upcoming festivals. Following the peaceful observance of Holi and Dhulivandan, authorities emphasized a continued atmosphere of cooperation between the police and residents. Leaders expressed confidence in the community’s support to maintain law and order.

Strict action against trouble-makers

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nitin Bagate issued a stern warning against any attempts to incite discord. “Maintaining the city’s reputation is our responsibility. If a group of outsiders tries to create unrest, unimaginable action will be taken,” he cautioned. He further urged residents to remain vigilant, warning against any indirect support to anti-social elements. “The police have their eyes on everyone,” Bagate stated emphatically.

Key attendees and coordination

The high-level discussion was attended by DCP Shilwant Nandedkar and Prashant Swami, former MP Imtiaz Jaleel, Prithviraj Pawar, former Mayor Rashid Mamu, Nandkumar Ghodele, Balasaheb Thorat, Raju Vaidya, Sudam Sonawane and several other civic leaders. Special Branch PI Avinash Aghav conducted the proceedings.

Recommendations for seamless festivities

The Peace Committee proposed several measures to ensure a smooth celebration:

Uninterrupted water and electricity supply during festivals.

Removal of encroachments in major marketplaces.

Extended operating hours for markets.

Regulation of street vendors at key locations like Paithan Gate, Gulmandi, and Shahaganj.

Control of stray animals to prevent disruptions.

Enhanced police security at sensitive areas such as Pan Chakki and Makai Gate.

Authorities reassured citizens that all concerns would be addressed proactively, ensuring that the spirit of unity prevails during the festive period.
