Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) pattern being implemented in the State will not change much in the syllabus of Language, history, geography. The local history of the State will be included in this textbook in a better manner. However, there will be an emphasis on conceptual curriculum instead of memorisation,” said Sachin Joshi, a member of the State Steering Committee formed for the implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP).

Yashwantrao Chavan Center, Shikshan Vikas Manch and Shri Saraswati Bhuvan Education Society (SBES) jointly organised a programme on ‘Maharashtra’s CBSE Pattern’ on Tuesday evening under its Shikshan Katta initiative. Dr Shrirang Deshpande (General Secretary, SBES), and Mahendra Ganpule (member, State Curriculum Planning Committee) were present.

Sachin Joshi said that in the case of Mathematics and Science subjects, the best aspects of the NCERT curriculum would be taken. “The State Board will remain, it will be more updated. The weather and rising temperatures in the State will be taken into account while deciding the annual schedule of schools in the state,” he said.

Mahendra Ganpule said it would not be wrong to call this change a curriculum equivalent to the CBSE pattern. “This curriculum is important for students in this competitive era. While accepting this change, the Government should provide physical facilities and teachers to schools accordingly,” he said.

In the presidential ceremony, Dr Shrirang Deshpande said that the government should take responsibility for the physical facilities and teaching and non-teaching staff of aided schools in the state.

Nilesh Raut, Yogesh Kudale, Gyanprakash Modani, Walmik Surase, Sheetal Mahale, Ramesh Thakur, Asaram Shelke and others were present. Dr Rupesh More conducted the proceedings of the programme while Dr Vinod Sinkar proposed a vote of thanks.
