Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

To reduce India's reliance on imported coal and petroleum, citizens must adopt renewable energy sources, urged Minister of Renewable Energy Atul Save during an Electric Vehicle (EV) Rally on Saturday. He emphasized that conserving energy is as crucial as generating it, aligning with PM Narendra Modi’s vision for self-sufficiency.

Organized by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the rally began at TV Center Ground. Minister Save flagged off the event, which featured over 350 electric vehicles, including motorcycles, rickshaws, cargo carriers, handcarts, buses, and cars. The rally concluded at Kranti Chowk. Dignitaries present included Mahaurja Regional GM Vinod Sirsat, additional district collector Pravin Phulari, deputy forest conservator Pramod Lakra and mahavitaran chief engineer Pawan Kumar Kachot. Save highlighted that Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is emerging as a hub for EV manufacturing, attracting top entrepreneurs. CM Devendra Fadnavis has also encouraged public representatives to switch to electric vehicles to reduce fuel imports and conserve foreign currency. The event commenced with a welcome speech by Sirsat, reinforcing the urgency of renewable energy adoption for both environmental conservation and economic stability.
