EX-VC Sonawne’s death to cause great loss to society
Aurangabad, Jan 2:
Today, it is rare to get an efficient and able administrator. The death of K P Sonawne, the former vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) is a significant loss to society,” opined teachers and officers in an in a condolence meeting held in Bamu on Saturday.
Rich tributes were paid to K P Sonawne who was VC of Bamu from December 21, 1999, to December 20, 2004, passed away in Pune on Friday.
In the meeting, VC Dr Pramod Yeole presided. VC of MGM University Dr Sudhir Gavhane and others were present.
Shedding light on the life of Sonawne, VC Dr Sudhir Gavhane said that KP Sonawne started his career as a teacher and after working as director of higher education, adult education departments became VC. He said that the former VC had established Osmanabad sub-centre.
VC Dr Yeole said “Many people contributed in the establishment of the university during the last six to seven decades. Sonawne’s name is among top officers.”
Sanjay Shinde conducted the proceedings of the programme.
