Exam centres being monitored through CCTV

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Some examination centres in the district have installed close-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras in the halls to monitor examinations strictly.

It may be noted that the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) started holding HSC and SSC examinations on February 11 and 21.

The State Board announced that action would be taken against schools, centre chiefs, invigilators and students for malpractice during the examination. The schools will also face the action of de-affiliation due to malpractice.

The staff of some of the centres of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division was replaced because of malpractice during the previous examinations. Examination centres mostly from the city are making efforts to prevent copying in the examinations. The students were taking the Defence Science paper of HSC on Monday while students of SSC appeared for Science and Technology paper.

Education officer (secondary) Ashwini Lathkar visited four examination centres today. She said that examinations are being conducted the CCTV monitoring at some centres.

Education Officer Lathkar said it was seen that the entire hall was being monitored by sitting in one place through CCTV.

The flying squads of the different departments including Education and Revenue visited the HSC and SSC examination centres in the district to put a check on malpractice. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Vikas Meena also paid surprised visits to the centres.

The Education Department replaced staff at some centres while withdrawal of permission was proposed for two centres.

While the 10th and 12th exams were going on, the flying squad by an Officer of the Education Department Sitaram Pawar visited the examination centers at Vimukta Jati Madhyamik Ashram School in Kachner Tanda, Z.P. High School in Chikalthana and MIT High School N-4.

He found the examination centre chief was sitting in a room and monitoring the entire hall through CCTV. Education Officer (Secondary) Lathkar said that very transparent examinations were conducted at these centres.
