Experts extol role of Urdu in fostering national integration,

Aurangabad, Jan 25: Maulana Azad College of Arts, Science and Commerce and Crescent Educational and Welfare Society, Aurangabad organised a one-day seminar on "Traces of National Integration in Urdu Literature," here on Monday.

In the introductory speech, Khan Mukhim Khan, former broadcaster and news reader of All India Radio, said that Urdu is the language of love and for centuries, just as Muslim writers expressed their views on Hindu civilization, customs, traditions and their festivals and culture through their poetry and literature, many Hindu writers and poets too have praised Holy Prophet, Sufis and saints through their writings. Urdu connects human beings to human beings.

Renowned poet, writer and critic Dr Irtekaz Afzal alias A G Khan in his 'key Note Address' on the theme, "Traces of National Integration in Urdu Literature," said that if we look at the history of the last 800 years, we can see that Urdu was created in India, and the core of this language is in many languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, Arabic, English, Telugu, Kannada and Persian. Through Urdu, the vision or reflection of national integration can be seen everywhere right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Dr Mirza Mohd. Khizar Baig shed light on the history of India's independence movement and usage of Urdu language in it. Dr Mirza Akhtar Baig expressed his views on letters of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and independence movement and discussed how national unity through Urdu in the context of journalism was promoted by Maulana Azad.

Dr Qazi Navid explained that the literature of Wali Dakhni, Siraj Aurangabadi as well as Urdu writers and poets had the vision of a united culture of Indians, called Ganga Jamani culture. Principal Dr Mazhar Ahmed Farooqi in his presidential address said that the younger generation should come forward in Urdu literature and protect the Urdu language and culture. Dr Rehana Begum conducted the proceedings and Dr Sohail Zakiuddin proposed a vote of thanks.
