A former corporator lost his life after being hit by a high-speed sports bike. The accident took place at midnight on Thursday in front of the Brandy Company at Chikalthana Industrial Estate.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok Gorakhnath Veerkar (55, resident of Gulmohar Colony). Veerkar had gone to the Chikalthana area for work on Thursday evening. At around 11.30 pm, he was heading home on his Bullet motorcycle in the direction of the MIDC Cidco police station. Meanwhile, two young men were speeding on a sports bike from Uttaranagari towards Dhoot Hospital. In front of the Brandy Company, they lost control and crashed into Veerkar’s oncoming bike. Upon receiving the information, officers Samadhan Ubale and Saheb Khan Pathan rushed to the scene. They immediately took the seriously injured Veerkar to Ghati Hospital. However, at 1 am, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
