Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Incidents of assault over petty issues, alcohol abuse, marijuana dealings, knife attacks, and thefts have become routine in the Waluj and MIDC police station areas. This has left the lives of workers and farming families in distress.

On Thursday evening, the Waluj police arrested four individuals and seized four kilograms of marijuana. The special squad of Waluj police received a tip-off from an informant that Dada Salunke and his three accomplices were planning to transport marijuana via the Bidkin-Lanji route towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Acting on this intelligence, PI Rajendra Sahane, along with constable Ajay Shitole, Dhanedhar, and officers Vijay Pimple, Sudharak Patil, Nitin Dhule, Shrikant Sapkal, and Malhar Gargade set up a trap near the Khamnadi bridge at Lanji Phata.

The operation led to the arrest of Atish Pawar ( Pravrasangam), Sambhaji alias Datta Songire (Sajapur), Sahil alias Minda Pimple (Ashoknagar, Shrirampur), and Dada Salunke (Gurudhanora). Police seized 4 kg 3 gm of marijuana, worth Rs 64,600, along with two motorcycles used for transportation.

Criminal records of 15 cases each

All four arrested individuals have around 15 registered cases of housebreaking and theft at Waluj and other police stations. They have now been arrested for marijuana smuggling. The police suspect their involvement in more crimes, and PI Rajendra Sahane is leading further investigations.

Police team behind the operation
