HC admits petitions for medical edn completion from EWS category

Aurangabad, Nov 12: Aurangabad division bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S P Deshmukh and Justice S D Kulkarni on Thursday admitted petitions for medical education completion up to postgraduate from Economic Weaker Section (EWS).

But, hearing on a petting seeking EWS benefit for just one year instead of whole education will be held after Diwali vacation.

According to details, some girl students filed petitions in the court seeking benefit of EWS for Maratha community for the academic year 2020-21. The court in today’s hearing showed readiness to provide the benefit of EWS till the completion of the medical education. However, the HC made it clear that the petitioners would be able to get the benefit of SEBC Act if it comes into existence in future.

So, petitioners Vedangi Sudhakar Kapre, Devyani Thombre and Kalyani Vyavhare showed readiness to avail of EWS for only one year while other petitioners Smita Bhimraao Shingte and Srushti Bhimrao Shingte who have EWS certificate are ready to take its benefit for the completion of whole medical education.

Adv Vinod Patil appeared for petitioners Vedangi, Devyani and Kalyani while advocates Y K Bobde and Atul Havle represented Smita and Srushti.

Chief Government pleader D R Kale appeared for the Government. Advocates Mrugesh Narwadkar and Kishor Sant represented CET Cell and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences respectively.
