Health library opens amid hospital rush, offers 4,000 free books

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A first-of-its-kind health library has opened in the city, offering 4,000 books for free to promote reading and a healthy lifestyle. Launched at the Lions Club Midtown Dialysis Center on Baijipura Road, the initiative aims to educate people on wellness amid growing health concerns.

Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat inaugurated the library, a joint effort by the Lions Club of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Midtown and Adv Rajgopal Malpani. Malpani, who curated the vast collection, said the library provides expert-authored books on diabetes, heart disease, kidney disorders, obesity, Ayurveda, yoga and lifestyle management. During the launch, Dr. Suryakant Jaju delivered a lecture on "Healthy Living." Lions Club Midtown president CA Nandkishor Malpani highlighted the club’s social initiatives, while former international director Dr. Naval Malu acknowledged the Lions' contribution to community welfare.

Dignitaries including former Mayor Nandkumar Ghodale, Vikas Jain, Chandrakant Malpani, Mahavir Patni, Mahesh Mehta, Bhagatsingh Darak, and others attended the event. Secretary Rasdeep Singh Chawla proposed a vote of thanks, recognizing the efforts of contributors including Pradeep Tayal, Sarika Malpani, Ritu Chawla and Veena Tayal.

What’s on the shelves?

Books on diabetes, heart disease, kidney ailments, eye disorders, obesity, diet, yoga, Ayurveda, and respiratory health are available for free to the public.
