Highly educated youth apply for Class IV jobs at GMCH

The result of the direct recruitment process for 357 Class IV posts at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was declared on January 1. Document verification of selected candidates began on Wednesday. Highly educated candidates, including engineers, b. pharmacy and m.sc degree holders, have applied for class iv posts. During verification, an official asked a highly educated young woman, “will you do cleaning work at GMCH?” To this, she replied, “sir, I have no choice, I will have to do it as a job.”

When GMCH was established around 1956, class iv posts were filled through direct recruitment.ne After a gap of nearly 69 years, the recruitment process was conducted again this year. The examination held in August last year yielded results at the beginning of the New Year. Document verification of merit-listed candidates started on Wednesday. Verification of documents of 50 to 60 candidates will be carried out daily till 28 January. Technical support for the process has been provided by TCS. Under the guidance of dean Dr Shivaji Sukre, the process is being conducted by the document verification committee chaired by Dr M S Baig, nodal officer Dr Bharat Sonawane, Dr Smita Andurkar, Dr Vinod Mundada, Dr Tapan Jakkal, Dr Satish Bahekar, administrative officer Dilip Godhane, Shaikh Naeem and others.

The vacant posts under the recruitment drive include various class iv and allied positions at the government medical college and the government medical college and hospital. At the government medical college, a total of 30 vacancies are for class iv employees and equivalent posts, along with posts of aya, gardeners and laboratory attendants. Meanwhile, at the government medical college and hospital, there are 285 vacancies for class iv employees and equivalent posts, in addition to post of dai, boiler operator, waterman, dressers, gardeners and barbers.
