Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The image of Mukundwadi, Ramnagar, Naregaon, Pundaliknagar and Padegaon which were previously known as peaceful and labourers colonies was tarnished due to open liquor sales during the day, robberies and illegal businesses at night.

To become ‘Bhai’, young people in their twenties turned to hooliganism. The frequent crimes show that the conflict between the goons and illegal business operators in this area and the city has reached its peak due to the police's blatant disregard for this.

There was a lot of tension in Mukundwadi on Sunday night, over extortion and illegal business by criminals. Many police officers and constables are living in the police colony near the incident site. The police employees themselves admitted that they too are panicked from the criminals.

At a time when the city is constantly tense, notorious and exiled criminals roam the city on the other hand. Videos and photographs of holding weapons and drug use are being posted on social media daily. This has raised serious questions about the role of the police.

Criminals in jail role models

The Crime Branch arrested notorious criminal Pawan Diwekar on February 2. Criminals in Mukundwadi consider the Jalna-based gang of goons led by Pawan and the Kashyap gang of Pundaliknagar as role models. Pawan has committed serious crimes like murder and robbery. He also posts videos of himself in handcuffs and in court on social media. The police ignore it. The gangs also started illegal businesses and drug dens in various places in the city.

Previously peaceful & labourers colonies are now places of gangsters

Mukundwadi, Ramnagar, Jinsi's Sanjaynagar, Pundaliknagar, Naregaon, Ranjangaon and Padegaon were previously known as peaceful and labourers colonies. Due to police negligence, the areas have become dens of notorious criminals and illegal businesses. Nearly 20 to 25 gangs are constantly active here. After 6 pm, it is impossible for women to even walk alone in many of these areas.
