Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A case has been registered at Waluj MIDC Police Station against a man and three of his family members for mentally and physically harassing his wife over a demand of Rs 2 lakh for gold.

The complainant, Arti, was married to Sachin Kathote in February 2022. Initially, she was treated well for a few months, but later began facing harassment. She alleged that her husband Sachin, mother-in-law Ranjana, brother-in-law Amol, and sister-in-law Rani subjected her to constant abuse, beatings, and humiliation. She was also driven out of the house on several occasions. Despite efforts by her uncle to reconcile the matter, the harassment continued. Arti was forced to do excessive household chores while being treated unequally compared to her sister-in-law. The accused also made repeated demands for Rs 2 lakh and gold from her parental home.
