Rising threats and intimidation from anti-social elements have forced authorities to deploy police protection at the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation (GMIDC) office on Jalna Road. Officials, including Executive Director Santosh Tirmanwar, have been working under security for the past 15 days following an alarming incident involving a political leader and his supporters.

Last week, Jaikishan Kamble, a political figure, along with his associates, stormed Tirmanwar’s office, poured a flammable liquid on themselves, and created a scene, demanding contract work. The group also blocked his vehicle, escalating tensions among officials and employees.

Staff members, fearing for their safety, approached the police commissioner, leading to enhanced security at the premises. Officials say pressure tactics by political and social groups demanding work contracts have become routine. The deployment of police personnel underscores the increasing threats faced by government officials in the city.
