Aurangabad, May 20:

Sessions judge M S Deshpande on Thursday sentenced accused Ramdas Keruba Salve (40, Rajivnagar slum, Aurangabad) to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 3,000 for murdering his wife on suspicion of her character.

A case of murder was registered against Ramdas on the complaint of Ashabai Dilip Dhanraj, sister of the deceased Jyoti Salve (25). Under the guidance of assistant commissioner of police Govardhan Kolekar, API A B Awhad had conducted an investigation and filed a charge sheet in the court. Assistant public prosecutor Raju Pahadiya recorded the statements of 15 witnesses in the case. Among them, Jyoti's brother Sunil Jagtap and the doctor's statements proved important. At the end of the hearing, the court sentenced the accused Ramdas to life imprisonment and fine. Ramdas always abused his wife, doubting her character. On the morning of November 15, 2014, Ramdas had taken Jyoti to Rajivnagar. On the same night, he had murdered Jyoti. In order to rehabilitate and compensate the minor son and daughter of the deceased, the sessions court also directed to refer the matter to the District Legal Services Authority under Section 357 (a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
