The Sakal Maratha Shikshan Manch organized a strong protest at Kranti Chowk on Friday, urging swift action in two high-profile cases: the murder of Beed district sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh and the suspicious custodial death of Somnath Suryavanshi, an Ambedkarite youth, in Parbhani.

Protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the CM through the Divisional Commissioner, emphasizing the urgent need for justice. They raised concerns about the worsening social and communal harmony in Marathwada and accused authorities of delaying action due to alleged political connections of the suspects in Deshmukh’s murder. The forum also demanded a thorough inquiry into Suryavanshi’s death in police custody, insisting on criminal charges against those responsible. Prominent figures present at the protest included Bhai Chandrakant Chavan, Dr Rajesh Karpe, Dr Umakant Rathod, Prof. Haridas Somwanshi, Prof. Shyam Sarkate, Dr Machhindra Gorde and Deepak Shinde, among others. The protest underscored the forum's commitment to safeguarding justice and preserving communal harmony in the region.
