Aurangabad, Dec 26:

The Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha today demanded immediate expulsion of Public Works Department (PWD) minister Ashok Chavan for failing to give justice to the Maratha community. Coordinator Ramesh Kere Patil in a press conference criticized the decision of the government to give reservation from economically weaker section to the Maratha community.

The Thok Morcha coordinators alleged that proving the social and educational backwardness of the Maratha community, 58 silent rallies were held to get constitutional reservation under the economically and socially backward class (SEBC). In all, 42 youths sacrificed their lives. However, the Maharashtra cabinet decided to allow the community to get the benefits of the EWS category. This decision is being opposed by Morcha. We demanded that the Maharashtra government should immediately reverse this decision. Maratha community will never accept EWS reservation. If SEBC reservation is not sustainable, reservation should be given to the Maratha community from the OBC quota, said Thok Morcha. Ashok Chavan has failed to give justice to the Maratha community. He should be expelled immediately, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje should clarify his role, does he agree with the decision of the government. Patil said that a state-wide meeting and convention has been organized by the Morcha in Aurangabad on January 1 to decide the future direction of the movement. Coordinators Sanjay Sawant, Shailesh Bhise, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, Laxman Mote, Amit Gadge, Kiran Kale, Appasaheb Jadhav, Anil Kudhe and Anil Shirwat were present on the occasion.
