Aurangabad, Nov 2:

The Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme works will be increased in the Marathwada region while there will be no shortage for the labour funds in the budget for these works, claimed EGS minister Sandeepan Bhumre in a press conference here on Monday.

Initially, Bhumre reviewed all the MGNREGA works at a divisional meeting.

He said, the labour budget for the works will not hamper due to the Corona crisis. Efforts are being taken for the personal benefit works, agriculture roads, wells and horticulture development works.

Presently, 29 works are in progress while there is a huge demand for agriculture roads. Efforts are being taken to make full provision in the budget for the works in the region. Horticulture development will be given more importance. The agriculture roads and the rural areas roads have been destroyed due to heavy rains and hence preference will be given for preparing these roads. The divisional meeting was not held earlier due to the Corona crisis but it will be held regularly now, Bhumre said.

Divisional Commissioner Sunil Kendrekar, district collector Sunil Chavan and other officers were present.
