Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A new 900 mm diameter water pipeline installed by the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) has been out of service since Saturday due to a joint failure. The civic authorities heaved a sigh of relief as the operation of pipeline was restarted at 6 am on Wednesday. Accordingly, water began flowing to Nakshatrwadi for distribution at 11.25 am. With the pipeline operational again, the city's water supply increased by 20 MLD. Meanwhile, the officials of the water supply section of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) have expressed confidence that the city's water supply will be normalised in the coming days.
On Saturday at 9 am, a joint in the pipeline at Dhorkin broke. The contractor from MJP took four days to repair it. Water supply from the pipeline was resumed from Jayakwadi at 6 am on Wednesday. It took three hours for the water to reach the Water Treatment Plant in Pharola. After processing the water, it was transferred to the MBR (Master Balancing Reservoir) on the hill at Nakshatrwadi within two hours. From there, the water was distributed to Cidco, Hudco, and the rest of the city.
The executive engineer (Water Supply) K M Phalak said that after repairing the pipeline, water lifting was resumed on Wednesday morning. Water arrived at Nakshatrawadi at 11.25 am. The water supply of the city is expected to return to normal situation in a few days, he said.
