Aurangabad, June 29:

A RT-PCR mobile laboratory has been started at the district civil hospital. The laboratory aims to conduct 2,000 tests daily. But the laboratory is not able to collect enough samples of suspected patients. As a result, there are plans to hand over the laboratory to the municipal corporation or the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The mobile laboratory was started by spice health at DCH a few days ago. The work of the laboratory began after the second wave subsided. At least 2,000 tests need to be done every day. Payments for tests conducted by the laboratory will be made at the state level. But since the tests are not being conducted on a daily basis as per the given objective, many measures are being taken by the health administration. From rural areas, samples of suspected patients from other districts are being brought to the lab. However, the target of 2,000 tests a day is not being met. Only five hundred tests are being conducted daily.

Lab to be handed over

Not enough samples are coming from rural and district hospitals. The lab will be open for three months. About five hundred tests are being done every day. In addition, there is also a liquid oxygen tank and an oxygen generation project. Therefore, we are thinking of moving this laboratory to the municipal corporation or the GMCH, said district surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni.
