Aurangabad, July 7:

A motorcyclist was crushed by a truck laden with food grains in an attempt to overtake the motorcycle at Kranti Chowk flyover on Wednesday at around 3 pm. The police arrested the truck driver and seized the truck.

The deceased has been identified as Sakharam Mahadu Gaikwad, (71, Harshnagar, Labour Colony). Gaikwad is a carpenter. On Wednesday afternoon, he was going towards Mahavir to deliver a small wooden temple tied on the backseat of his motorcycle. At Kranti Chowk flyover, a truck tried to overtake his motorcycle and dashed the motorcycle, due to which Gaikwad with his motorcycle dragged under the tyres of the truck. He died on the spot. The Kranti Chowk police immediately rushed to the spot and took the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). A case has been registered at the Osmanpura. The police have arrested the truck driver and seized the truck.
